Vision

Be the specialized center of IICA to facilitate learning and distance communications in support of technical cooperation and institutional management through the use of information technologies and telecommunications.

Mission

Provide specialized services in education, training and communication which facilitate, support and advise the Technical Units, Operational, and Strategic Partners Office of IICA, with innovative services and excellence in the use of information technology and communication for technical cooperation and institutional management.

Products and Services

• Videoconferencing by different applications (IP / ISDN, Adobe Connect, Elluminate (from January 24 in progress, has five meeting rooms and live conference, with a capacity of 50 participants simultaneously in each room).

• Online courses in "Interactive Virtual Learning Environment for Agriculture", e-life (for 2011 has been migrated to Moodle 1.9 to Moodle 2.0).

• Development of multimedia products for education, training and information (plus Presenter, educational videos and informational videos.)

What is e-ViDA?

The Interactive Virtual Learning Environment for Agriculture (e-ViDA) is the on line platform that CECADI (Distance Education Center) uses for its courses. The courses are generated by the units of IICA´s technical cooperation, who define the participants and objectives for the on line courses or events.

e-ViDA is conceived as a tool in CECADI´s path of building a learning web within IICA´s member countries and strategic partners. Helping their participants to share and gain knowledge in the topics of interest for the institute through the on-line courses, rooms or events within the established learning communities.

Videoconference

CECADI also has available the service of videoconference to generate and strengthen the learning web within the member countries of IICA. Different events are held by videoconference in the americas, some of them are courses, meetings and presentations.

The objective of the videoconference is to support the technical cooperation within the institute. Achieving that, the CECADI coordinated more than 50 videoconferences communicating the continent during 2008. CECADI also helps and motivates the offices in their process of acquiring videoconference equipments. At the moment the South and the Andinia Regions are fully equipped, soon every country in all the regions will have at IICA´s office the technology to reach others by this technology. Now, each day the offices are getting more familiar to this type of events by the experiences held of connecting to other countries through the organizations at IICA´s level in this competitive media.
